Seller's Notes:A classic American Empire four-drawer chest in flame mahogany, 19th century. The projecting top drawer, three graduated drawers below, scrolled pilaster sides, and platform base with outward-scrolling feet define the American Empire chest form. The drawer fronts are veneered in crotch flame mahogany — the dramatically figured material central to the Empire aesthetic — each front displaying a distinct grain pattern. Pine secondary wood throughout. Octagonal glass knobs. No maker identified. A piece of genuine period character suited to a bedroom, hallway, or any interior that responds to the warmth and drama of American Empire furniture.
