Seller's Notes:This antique kidney-shaped women's desk is likely mid-to-late 19th century Victorian. I inherited it from my mom, who had for for most of her life. It has a dark leather writing surface in good condition with gold-tooled decorative borders, and highly figured burr walnut veneer. The drawers offer excellent storage. The kneehole is quite narrow (19 inches wide and 22 inches high) so it's best suited to someone smaller in stature. On the inside you can see the original hand-cut square nuts securing the hardware backplates. It shows its history with slight chipping to the veneer in a few places and minor age-related cracking on the back panel (pictured) but it's still a stunning piece. A few of the brass drop-pull handles have detached, but all original matching pieces are included and can easily be reattached, as well as the original wheels (pictured) which I removed. I love it and I'm only selling it because we're moving abroad and i already shipped it across the Atlantic once! It also works really nicely as a beauty console in the bedroom.
