Seller's Notes:I bought these two beautiful Design Within Reach bentwood stools when I was in business school, now 5-6 years ago, in Philadelphia. I now reside happily in California where I am remodeling my apartment to a more East Asian vibe and so am somewhat reluctantly selling these two truly beautiful stools to match my remodeling. There is a circular stain on top of one of the stools from when I placed a planter on the stool for too long. Besides that, both items are in like-new condition, no scratches or stains. They are truly high-quality and beautiful furniture pieces so I hope they can find a good new home!

Defined by its dependable bentwood construction and simple organic form, the graceful, lightweight and surprisingly strong Era Collection has been in continuous production for more than 150 years. It is the work of Michael Thonet, who perfected the bentwood process for chair-making and in the process eliminated the need for expensive and time-consuming hand-carved joints. Swiss Architect Le Corbusier used Thonet’s chairs for his projects, stating, "Never before was something more elegant and better in its conception, more precise in its realization and more fit for practical use created." Other fans of this ubiquitous form included Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, both of whom featured it in their paintings.
