Eames Molded Plastic Armchair
Product details
Seller's Notes:This cheery, beautiful Eames Molded Plastic Armchair in Red Orange is a great accent piece to any room. I purchased this from Design Within Reach a decade ago, so there is some natural wear and tear, but I don't think it's anything major, just some scratches and thin stains on the reverse. Everything else, such as the hardware, is intact and in working order. There is a Herman Miller stamp on the bottom, indicating authenticity.
The Eameses had first used fiberglass cloth and plastic resin material (which they had found in war-surplus stores) as screens in Case Study House #8. The office had also experimented with plastic resins before submitting chair designs and prototype chairs of stamped metal to The Museum of Modern Art’s “International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design” in 1948.
