Seller's Notes:This listing is for a beautiful large Belle Ware Art Glass dresser box by the Carl Helmschmied Manufacturing Company, c. 1903. Belle Ware was made by the Helmschmied Manufacturing Company of Meriden CT from opal glass as competition to the more famous Wave Crest glass produced by the C. F. Monroe Company. The opal glass blank was hand decorated in a similar style to that of Wave Crest glass. Production began in 1903 and like Wave Crest glass, the opal glass blanks were probably purchased from the Mt. Washington Glass Company and painted by the decorators at Helmschmied. This lovely large dresser box features an alabaster opal background with pink roses enameled flowers on a glass opal top. The condition of this lovely box is excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs. The brass band has a beautiful patina and reflects minimal signs of normal wear. The lining is old approx. 115 years). and has some tears and some dirt. Some peoole just take the lining out. Box is marked "Belle Ware"
