Product details
Seller's Notes:Josef Hoffmann designed Fledermaus chairs by THONET A set of eight iconic “Fledermaus” chairs, originally designed by Josef Hoffmann for Cabaret Fledermaus in Vienna, 1920s and crafted by world-renowned Thonet. The chair’s distinctive design features a sleek and elegant bentwood frame in black lacquered finish, swooping armrests and curved backrests with black spherical accents which are both elegant and stately. They are steam-bent birch with original black lacquer; six are upholstered in burgundy velvet and 2 in cream linen. Four are in excellent condition and have no wear (have been covered and boxed); four (2 burgundy) have some scratches with upholstery in very good condition, and two with cream linen seats have some scratches on frame and stains on linen seats. Made by Thonet circa 1980s. All chairs feature engraved stamps saying “Thonet” on the underside of seat frame as well as paper labels attached to underside of seats (see pictures).
