Seller's Notes:This very charming pair of mid-20th century, hand-carved armchairs, feature re-upholstered walnut frames. The frames are carved in the French Provincial or Louis XV/Louis XVI style which decorates the seat crest and chair apron. The frames have gracefully curved backs, sides, arms, and legs. The tufted seat backs, and generously proportioned seats, are upholstered with a French brocade style fabric. The seats are supported by cabriole legs ending with carved and scrolled feet. The frames have excellent joinery and craftsmanship, are heavy, and solidly fitted with rear-zippered, removable seat cushion covers. The crest rail’s ornate carving extends down to the apron and cabriole legs. 

CONDITION: The chairs are in “good” condition, and have wear consistent with their age and use. Beautifully crafted pieces with strong, solid joinery, any wear noted in the photos, is most assuredly minor, and undoubtedly, age-appropriate. The brand is unknown, however, they were purchased in the early 1960’s at the original Nebraska Furniture Mart store in Omaha. The actual age is unknown, but it is safe to assume that they were made in the 1950’s. Because my mother was the original purchaser/owner, I can attest that they were reupholstered in the late 70’s or early 80’s. This French provincial style embodies sophistication and class, and has the flexibility to fit well in both formal and more casual settings.
