Vintage 1970s Industrial Penco Orange Lockers

Seller's Notes:Bring a bold piece of mid-century industrial history into your home. These authentic, heavy-duty steel lockers have quite the provenance: they were originally installed in the staff room of the historic Bank of America building in San Francisco. Saved from demolition by the beloved (and now deeply missed) retro-mod vintage boutique The Other Shop on Divisadero, they made the cross-country journey with us to New York. Based on the original manufacturer tags from Penco Products Inc., these lockers feature the "Subsidiary of Alan Wood Steel Co." stamping. Because Alan Wood Steel went out of business in 1977, these lockers are at least 50 years old—a true piece of 1970s Americana. They are finished in a striking, vibrant hue reminiscent of classic International Orange. This is a modular configuration featuring four slim vertical lockers paired with four overhead cubicles. Each main vertical locker door has a hidden tab that unlocks its corresponding overhead cubicle. The original combination locks have been disabled, meaning every compartment easily pulls open and latches shut smoothly without the need for keys or combinations. As a genuine 50+ year-old piece of industrial furniture, it wears its history beautifully. Expect scratches, small dents, and character marks of a piece that has lived a full life. Structurally, it is rock solid and incredibly sturdy. There is a small patch of rust inside one of the top cubicles, which can easily be lined or touched up if desired. We absolutely love this piece, but an upcoming move means it’s time for its next chapter.
