Seller's Notes:Selling my beloved vintage tulip armchair designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll in the late 1950’s. It’s in excellent vintage condition with original tag that reads “Knoll Associates, Inc - 575 Madison Ave”. Despite being ~70 years old the chair is still rock solid, very comfortable, and in incredible condition. I’ve written in detail below to provide a sense of the date of this piece. Overall the chair itself is in amazing structural shape with a very limited amount of scrapes, scratches and general wear, which I’ve tried to capture as best as possible in the pictures. The seating pad is original but newly reupholstered in a lovely dark blue fabric. The previous owner took care to preserve the original Velcro and tag which was previously affixed to the cushion itself. Sad to be selling this chair so hoping to find it a nice new home. It really is a great opportunity to own a piece of mid century furniture history. Chair tag and production date: The pedestal armchair was introduced in 1958. The label affixed to the chair reads “Knoll Associates Inc - 575 Madison Ave”, which was the location of their HQ until they moved to 320 Park Ave after 1961. A such this chair was among the very first production runs of the Eero Saarinen Pedestal Collection. Cushion tag and production date: The second tag is loose (it was previously affixed to the cushion) that reads “Knoll Associates, Inc - 320 Park Ave”. They moved to this location after 1961 and in 1968 changed names to “Knoll International” so would date the cushion to sometime between 1961 and 1968. The fabric is in excellent condition so this must have been reupholstered sometime within the last 10-15 years.
