Seller's Notes:This high-back sideboard is large, solid dark wood, with many decorative details. Carved spiral legs, spiral columns at the side of the panel above the "counter-top", decorated in relief front panels. This sort of piece is obviously meant for a dining room, and that is the use my family had given it. At the same time, the large drawers and storage areas are useful for all sorts of objects, as I have found since I have been using it myself ) I believe it is a now-antique Jacobean revival piece made in the early to mid part of the twentieth century, but I cannot be sure. No maker's mark I can find. It was bought at a Cape Cod antique shop in the 90's. I am also not certain of the kind of wood it is. I have seen pieces like this described as mahogany, but I believe that is incorrect. The piece has two deep drawers in the center, and two storage areas with doors at the side. The hardware is intact; there is a key and one of the doors locks. The other seems to be missing the interior mechanism. With respect to the wear, please see the pictures, although they exaggerate the way the staining looks - I wanted to make sure to show as much as possible. A horizontal plank on the right side (vertical surface) has warped, and there is now a gap, as shown in several pictures. At the sides and the right door, the panels have come out of a wack a bit. I believe they can be set back in their place. The hardware on the right side of the drawers has areas where the tint has been lost. The tint has worn off a bit at the edge of the top leaf, and the leaf itself has staining from use - some wearing off of the color, some marks from objects placed on top. There are tiny spots white spots on the right side from paint spatter, very small and can be cleaned off. However, unlike in my pictures, it does not look bad as is, and can most certainly be renewed. Some of the loss of color also on the side panels. A bit more about the dimensions: the height I have listed is for the back board (approximately 57 inches); the "counter-top" comes to approximately 36 and 3/4 inches. The width I list is for that horizontal surface as well, the depth is approximately 19.5 inches (it is not possible to enter decimals or fractions in the appropriate field here). The object is quite large and heavy, so a believe a professional pick-up would work best, it might not be so easy to maneuver.
