It is adorned with a beautiful red Chinoiserie finish, with hand painted butterflies in gold leaf. Complementing the overall design, the cabinet is embellished with original brass hardware with ring handles on drawers and a slide lock on the door, providing a perfect finishing touch. Crafted in solid elm wood in the Shan Xi Province with artistic features of typical of the Northern China countryside. Many fine elm wood furniture imports were created during the Qing Dynasty. This painted Chinese tall cabinet retains its original lacquer and paintings, but shows areas with loss of color, cracks and blemishes. Originating from the Shanxi province in central China, it stands as a fine representation of the decorative cabinets produced in the region, traditionally presented as part of a bride's dowry.
