Seller's Notes:Selling a really unique late Qing Dynasty / early Republic antique Chinese Altar Cabinet, also known as the "Butterfly Cabinet" or "cofer". In hand-carved elm, intricate relief carvings decorate the side panels. It's a truly stunning handcrafted piece, with a traditional mortise-and-tenon construction. It still has its original red wax "Jian Ding" customs stamp from when it was officially cleared and exported out of China on the case, and another stamp (both pictured) on the inside, to confirm its origins and age. It has three drawers on top and a double-door cabinet at the bottom, so offers quite a bit of practical storage. Condition: It's in good condition with some chips and knocks, one slightly loose side panel. It has a beautiful, raw, weathered wood finish with plenty of natural distressing. It works very well as an entry table or accent piece for a living room.
